Secondment Opportunity / Fixed Term Contract until 31 March 2011

Regional Councillor Development Coordinator.

Salary POC/POD £30,546 - £36,838

An exciting opportunity has arisen for LGYH to employ a Regional Councillor Development Coordinator to complete the member development project.

RIEP funding has been secured to ensure the delivery of an agreed programme of support and development opportunities/initiatives for the Regions Councillors and Member Development Officers representing all 22 local authorities across Yorkshire and the Humber.

We are looking for someone who has an excellent knowledge of the current issues facing local authorities and their impact on local Councilors and the communities they serve. An awareness of regional and local issues would be advantageous and previous experience in this type of role would be desirable.

The successful candidate will have the following;

Excellent project management skills with a demonstrable track record of delivering successful projects, working to tight deadlines and within agreed budgets.

The ability to work at a senior and strategic level with Councillors, Officers and other delivery partners.

Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills,

Experience of running successful networks and of planning and delivering a wide range of events, including workshops, action learning sets and conferences.

Evidence of creative problem-solving to capture and share best practice and build capacity across groups and organisations.

Evidence of using a range of evaluation techniques to measure impact and outcomes.

The post will be based in Wakefield but will involve travel across the Yorkshire and Humber region and the postholder will also represent LGYH and the region nationally.
